What You’ll Learn in the Data Analysis Skills Bootcamp

Our practical, hands-on Data Analysis Skills Bootcamp is designed to give you the essential skills, tools, and confidence to start a career in data. Delivered in four focused units, this course takes you step-by-step through the fundamentals of working with data — from spreadsheets and SQL to data ethics and visualisation.

1. Introduction to Data Analysis

Start by exploring what it’s really like to work as a Data Analyst. You’ll learn about the day-to-day role, key responsibilities, and essential skills. This unit also introduces the different types of data (structured and unstructured), ethical data use, and UK laws on data protection. You’ll explore three types of analytics — descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive — and how they inform better business decisions.

2. Spreadsheets and Practical Statistics

Get hands-on with spreadsheets and learn how to clean, organise, and analyse data. This unit helps you identify trends, apply basic statistical methods, and interpret the results. These are the core tools that help Data Analysts turn raw information into meaningful insights.

3. Databases and SQL

Learn how databases work and why they’re essential in any data role. You’ll be introduced to SQL (Structured Query Language), a powerful tool for managing and retrieving data securely. This unit also covers how to keep data organised, accurate, and protected in line with industry standards.

4. Data Visualisation and Data Modelling

In the final unit, you’ll discover how to turn numbers into stories. You’ll learn how to build impactful charts, graphs, and dashboards that clearly communicate your findings. The unit also introduces data modelling — a key behind-the-scenes process for shaping how data is structured and used in organisations.
